Norcal - Combined Federal Campaign

Letter from the Chair

Dear Friends,

Jan Wright, CFC Chair
50 years ago, President John F. Kennedy created the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC). Since its inception in 1961, federal employees have contributed $7 billion to thousands of charities. That is truly a job well-done. Congratulations!

As Chair of the 2011 CFC, I want to ask for your continued support and participation in this year's program. When we give to others, we are giving to ourselves and to our community…whether across the street or the globe, it is our community and working together, we have the power to make a difference.

Who among us has not endured challenges during the recent years? It is in those moments that I have witnessed the outpouring of contributions from federal employees and conversely witnessed the charities that received those gifts provide amazing support to feed families; educate our children; continue medical & environmental research; provide humane care for animals; and disaster relief to victims…you name it and the CFC has been there to help. Thanks to your outpouring of support, our federal community continues to comfort those in need and I encourage you to give again in 2011!

As we enter our 50th anniversary, CFC Norcal was recognized nationally by the White House, receiving the Innovation Award for our "Go Green with CFC" campaign. We graciously accepted this award on behalf of our CFC Norcal family; without your enthusiastic participation we could not have created a greener campaign---saving $200,000 in print & production costs. You made the campaign a success! I want to congratulate the Department of Energy, Livermore for winning our 2010 CFC Norcal Green Award. DOE did a tremendous job and we salute them for their outstanding team effort!

I invite you to support, volunteer and give to the CFC charities of your choice. For those who have never given to the CFC, I encourage you to contribute, no amount is too small, how about $50 for 50 years! If you are a loyal supporter of the CFC, thank you and welcome back! In our work as federal employees, we give of ourselves everyday because we care about the welfare of our communities, our country and the world. Please join me again this year in extending that same compassion and generosity through the CFC.

Honorably yours,

Jan M. Wright, Chair
